Cole turned 15 months on March 10th, and I can barely keep up!
No really. Half my day is spent closing the drawers and cupboards he opens and empties, the other portion is keeping him away from sharp edges and stairs. I’m kidding (not really)!
Cole continues to be long baby. At his 15 month check-up, he was 32.5 in. (90th) and 24 lbs 5 oz. (75th).
Daddy’s certainly not disappointed Cole’s favorite toy is bat, or a stick, anything he can whack.
What is he doing?
Well, little dude is busy. Cole’s been walking for over three months, so now he’s all about chasing after big sis. If you watch my IG stories, you see this daily. He’s her little shadow; to be expected as a younger sibling.
Cole is trying so hard to say more words daily. Here are a few consistent ones: Gee-duh (Jada), mama, dada, up, down, mo’ (more), eat, hi and by with waves.
He’s really quite social once he warms up to the space, and I’m there (mama’s boy).
As you can see, his hair has a mind of it’s own! Lots of curls. And, he has about 6 teeth now.
I feel like Jada had a better awareness of space and consequences at this age, and she was a bit more verbal, but Cole is catching up. He’s really a fun, little guy.
Cole eats pretty much anything we do now, but I still break it down into small bites. He loves smoothies…but they have to be in this pink, bunny sippy. He’s pretty particular.
He still devours oatmeal, blueberries, black berries, string cheese, yogurt, sweet potatoes, peas, and turkey meatballs. Dr. Praeger’s spinach littles (freezer section) are an easy meal option as well.
And, yes. He is still nursing…when can I wean this one?!
I jinx myself all the time in this department, but he’s consistently sleeping through the night (cue a 4 wake-up type of night).
He’s good with one longish nap (+2 hours) or two small ones. I am hanging onto that morning one, especially when Jada is in school four days a week, because I need some kid-free time. Plus, that’s usually when I work out.
Jada always amazes me. I have to remind myself she’s not even four yet. We do have to remind her to “lead by example,” but that’s never ending, right? Kids are bright, so we try to teach while we are learning too!
We remind her that Cole “is little,” so he doesn’t understand a lot of things right now, but one day, “You can teach him to use a spoon, learn his letters, go potty in the potty, etc.”
She loves to “read” to him and creates these cute stories from books, shows, or events from school all meshed together. Note that Cooper is always included. He’s the best dog ever.
I have to admit, I’m struggling to balance life as a mom, wife, trainer, friend, athlete, etc. I feel like I’m pretty mediocre most days. I think we all do as moms.
Both my IRL and virtual friends have reminded me that our kids are only little for a short time.
I had all these ideas for growing my online training because I really do love coaching motivated clients! But, that will have to wait a bit until I figure out this mom of two thing more.
Last update, I mentioned that I should start tracking my steps because mom life. Well, I got a Fitbit Charge 2 for Christmas and I’m consistently over 15k steps per day (including walks to school and with Cooper).
So, I use daily activity and a quick workout to stay fit and energized.
One day, I will be able to train a bit longer. For now, this seems to work.
What is one piece of advice you would tell your younger, mom self?
What do you do for stress relief?
