Cole turned one year old on December 10th, sharing a birthday with his daddy.
That’s right! Last year, Cole was born on the morning of Spencer’s birthday.
And, yes. This year has absolutely flown by.
Cole continues to be long baby. At his 12 month check-up, he was 31.5 in. (95th) and 22 lbs 10 oz. (50-75th). He’s mostly wearing 18-24 month clothing for the length. He’s in a pair of size 4 Reebok’s, but will be outgrowing those soon too.
Cole is walking!
He started taking 2 and 3 steps about midway through month 11, but no serious commitments on his part until 8 days before he turned 1.
Then, he built that confidence up and took off. He can get up from the ground and begin walking on his own. Within the last few days, he is choosing walking as his primary mode of transportation.
He’s copying more sounds like da da, ma ma, ni-ni (night night), and recently said, “hot!” We keep saying that to him in the kitchen, near the oven, so now he says it there, by the dish washer. So cute!
And, he’ll belt out some “tunes” to make sure we know he’s here! Pointing and waving are also common in addition to clapping for himself.
He’s eating more table food and shoveling it into his face at times…except for cupcakes. What the heck, buddy?
I still stick to mostly soft stuff and feel like I need a few more ideas. So, fire away.
He devours Dr. Praeger’s Spinach Littles, so I tend to default to that for lunch or dinner. Blueberries, string cheese, yogurt, raspberries, and sweet potatoes are still consistent winners.
He is still nursing…a lot. I’d like to start dropping the day time feedings, but hang onto the night one for a few more months.
Cole is not consistently sleeping through the night, but if he wakes up, he goes back down easily after I comfort nurse him.
His top, front teeth are poking through, so that led to a several, multiple wake-up nights for us. Otherwise, once it’s 7 p.m., he better be in his jammies or he’s fussy. He naps in the morning and afternoon still. Jada merged hers at about 16 months, so I’ll just read him for cues.
Jada is proud of her brother and actually wants to play with him!
You can imagine how excited Cole is by this recent development!
He LOVES Jada so much. I cannot wait till they want to read together before bedtime. Right now, Cole is not into story time. He’d rather destroy things or pull all the clothing out of the drawers!
So, Cooper steps in.
I really need to get something that measures my steps, because I rarely sit down! Moms, you know the drill with active littles.
I continue to make exercise a priority, so I can put my best self forward. My workouts are NOT long.
But, they target major muscle groups and keep me energized. Some are less than 20 minutes in length, but I also incorporate long walks with Cooper and lots of activity with the kiddos.
I try to fuel with mostly healthy food, but I’m not one to restrict or I’ll binge on all the sugar! My IG stories tend to give a pretty accurate glimpse into daily life if you like that sort of thing.
