Use a set of stairs (indoors or outdoors) for this quick, effective stair workout.
I can’t tell you how many times a day I climb our 3 flights of stairs. Our laundry is in the basement, so with two little kids, I’m doing laundry often, climbing lots of stairs too.
I’m guessing many of you have the same set of circumstances, so let’s use the stairs to our advantage for a spicy workout!
18 Minute Stair Workout
Perform each exercise for 45 seconds, then rest for 15 seconds before moving to the next one. Repeat 2x for a total of 3 rounds. If you’re feeling extra spunky, add in 45 seconds of running stairs to each round!
1. Squat Jacks
Stand tall, then jump feet wide to squat position, and back to standing.
Obviously, you don’t need stairs for this movement, but I also like starting a workout with a move that incorporates a lot of muscles.
2. Decline Push-ups
Elevate your feet on the stairs and really build that upper body strength with this spin on a traditional push-ups
3. Alternating Step-ups
Fire those glutes with this movement. Switch legs each time and be sure to stand tall (full hip extension) for maximum glute engagement.
4. Elevated Spiderman
Like the decline push-ups, start with your feet elevated and alternate knee-to-elbow trying to maintain that plank position.
5. Stair Jumps
This explosive movement engages many muscles at once. Be sure to stand tall at the top, you continue to work those glutes!
6. Plank Shoulder Taps
This deceptive core movement will have your abs and shoulders on fire! Maintain a solid plank while shifting hips minimally as you alternate shoulders.
Go through these exercises two more times for a total of three rounds and an effective, full body burn!
I also want to share a product from 66 Audio that I’ve become a big fan of as an active mom.
The BTS Sport Bluetooth wireless headphones are outstanding for working out or watching videos on your phone while kids are sleeping…not that I would know. 😉
Immediately, I noticed the comfort of these headphones. The ones that insert into my ears tend to fall out once I get sweaty.
They are lightweight and compact, so no matter how much I’m moving, they stay put. Plus, they are sweat resistant. So necessary, as I’m sweaty exerciser and I’m guessing I’m not alone on this one.
I haven’t made use of this feature yet, but voice calls have, “…integrated a cutting-edge omnidirectional microphone with patented Clear Voice Capture (cVc®) technology for optimal clarity and echo noise cancellation while on a voice call.”
They even cancel out wind if you’re taking a call on the run (literally).
You can control volume, skip tracks, play music, pause, or take calls with the headset’s control panel. Super convenient and hands free. Just what this active mama needs (and I didn’t even realize it!).
What product(s) is a must have when you exercise?
Disclaimer: I was provided the headphones from 66 Audio at no cost in exchange for an honest review.
