Fitness, parenting, and simply life are quite the balancing act.
And, I’m not so sure there is actual balance when you’re a parent, is there? At least as a mom of two young kiddos, I haven’t found it. But, I’m doing my best.
That’s all we can ask of ourselves, right?
Taken shortly after Cole filled his diaper.
As many of you know, working out centers me and is my primary stress reliever. So, it is a priority.
It’s not an obsession. I’ve always been an athlete, and I intend to be an athlete for the rest of my life. Our bodies are designed to move.
Occasionally, Jada even exercises/plays alongside me (check out the video HERE) when I workout. Those workouts are more broken up, but I enjoy them nonetheless.
And, sometimes *gasp* I use screen time to sneak in a quick workout like this. No judging please. When you’re a sole parent a majority of the time, it’s a must.
Frozen was playing in the background (it’s the first time Jada has actually wanted to watch it!), and note Cooper was spotting my dumbbell snatch technique.
We also take advantage of any opportunity to get outside.
The other day, we met one of Jada’s classmates at the park to play, and his mom even treated us to donuts.
Frosting and sprinkles first, that’s my girl.
And, sometimes I try to do too much and my body gives out like this past weekend.
So, I listened and rested.
I’ve been loosely following a Carb Cycling program for almost 5 weeks now. I say “loosely” because I’m breastfeeding, therefore I’m not as strict as others might be.
Here are a few meals of late.
I’m also working with two online groups that are entering Level Two of Elite Boot Camp. In this phase, we are implementing many of the carb cycling and intermittent fasting concepts that compliment our advanced workouts.
The ladies are killing it so far with more energy, improved performance, and lots of non scale victories. I’m so proud of them! In order to be eligible for Level Two, they all must’ve completed the first camp.
If you are interested in participating in Elite Boot Camp, I will be opening registration later this month with a camp start date of April 4th.
I’ve already noticed a change in my physique and have gradually been adding more difficult workouts to my training regime.
Plus, I simply feel more like “me” when I lift those weights and incorporate CrossFit and HIIT.
What does balance look like for you?
What centers you?!
