I’m sharing 5 reasons why I workout in the morning. I would love to hear how exercise fits into your schedule!
I have always functioned best with a morning workout. In the past few months, I would workout while Jada was at Y-care or played with toys in the garage during my workout.
Lately, it seems like I can’t get in a solid workout while she is with me. Lots of interruptions. And, let’s face it, moving is a pretty big transition for anyone, let alone a 2 year old.
So, after lots of encouragement from readers like YOU, I’m trying 5 a.m. workouts several days a week.
I was hesitant to try the 5 a.m. club because it’s REALLY early! I need my sleep, especially during this pregnancy. I don’t want to be lethargic the rest of the day trying to keep up with a busy toddler.
And, part of me loves to workout with Jada, so she can see the importance of exercise.
But, sometimes, I just crave that “me only” time.
5 reasons why I choose EARLY morning workouts:
1. I make better food choices throughout the day.
I don’t want to “undo” all the work I put in by eating poorly, right? Plus, my body simply craves healthier fuel to repair and recover after a workout.
2. I have time for the important things.
With my workout complete, I’m free to focus on activities for Jada without the thought of, “You still need to workout!” in the back of my head.
3. NO excuses.
There is nothing on my schedule at 5 a.m., so I have no excuses to cancel. If I waited to complete my workouts later in the day, then there are plenty of excuses, errands, and chores, I could come up with instead of working out.
4. More energy.
I was worried that an early wake-up call would catch up with me for the rest of the day, but I have MORE energy after a workout than I do getting an extra hour of sleep. Of course, I have to make sure I get to bed early, but it’s worth it.
5. I’m a better mom.
I am more patient and alert once that workout is complete. Both qualities are needed in huge quantities when raising an active, curious toddler. On the days I didn’t get my workout in, I can tell my fuse is much shorter. I react instead of being proactive with teachable moments.
Parenting is simply tough. Know what works for you!
