A sneak peak into what happens behind the scenes at Blonde Ponytail.
Who nominated me?
Erin at Her Heartland Soul nominated me for this fun post. I miss her! She moved to Omaha over a year ago. Prior to that, we had met at the Runner’s World Half Marathon in 2012. We often met at Whole Foods for healthy dinner dates with fellow Omaha bloggers (Joanna & Hannah). I even trained Erin (and her husband on occasion). They were making such tremendous progress–more fit with each workout, then I moved. Boo!

Behind the Scenes Blog Tour: Blonde Ponytail
What am I working on?
One of my goals is to post three times a week. Those posts may include sponsored content, a workout, or simply an update of life outside the gym. I have worked hard to build audience for 4 years now and love the interaction with readers and followers. So, thank you for reading!
However, I just don’t have the time for blogging like I used to pre-Jada. I would love to post weekly workout videos and begin training clients online, but I’m not quite sure how to balance it. My priority is being an energetic, attentive mom and wife. That means I DO carve out time to workout because it fuels me; I don’t think that’s selfish. Conversely, I’ll forego other tasks like blogging, tweeting regularly, surfing Pinterest, or even a shower (until later in the day-no judging, okay?!).
Presently, I am trying to grow my social media channels, because it’s much easier to post on Instragram, Twitter and Facebook than it is to write a post. So, please let me know what you would like to see (or not see)!
How does my work differ from others of its genre?
While I likely fall into the healthy lifestyle blogger category, I hope what sets me apart from others who also write about exercise is my certification and experience. I create workouts with a purpose.
There is a reason exercises are listed in a certain order or rest intervals are programmed in. While my workouts are certainly nothing earth shattering, I DO hope they are both innovative and challenging!
Why do I write/create what I do?
Like Erin, I LOVE the interaction and connection with readers. I started this blog when I was living in a small town in Washington (Pullman) and felt completely isolated. Thankfully, my friend Harmony encouraged me begin and the blog evolved from primarily a running journal to what it is today.
Now, I enjoy showing what it means to be a healthy, active mom and wife. That it IS important to make time for YOU in order to be the best version of YOU. This blog also helps me feel like I’m part of a community (I’m grateful for a my role as a FitFluential ambassador). When I move, it comes with me!
How does my writing/creative process work?
I write all my posts on the computer. While I do have a laptop, I like being at a desk to compose posts. And, usually the chair has an occupant.
I use nap time or the evenings, after Jada has gone to bed to create posts. If I’m on a roll, I’ll prepare 2-3 posts over the weekend.
Lately, I have been recording my workouts in a notebook, which prompts workouts posts of mine. There’s something wonderful about good, old-fashion paper.
Most of the time, posts are fitness related or a healthy recipe, but lately I have included more lifestyle posts as Jada gets more active and entertaining. I’m not just a sweaty mess–well, most of the time I am!
The next stops on the blog tour:
Katie at Mom’s Little Running Buddy. Katie and I met at the Hood to Coast Relay in 2012, and now, we live only 2.5 hours apart! She is a fantastic example of a working mom. Plus, Jada and her little, A, are only a couple months apart!
Lindsay at Cotter Crunch. I have read Lindsay’s blog since I started blogging and often look to her for nutritional advice. We have never met, but my goal is to meet this lovely lady one day. She has always been a source of inspiration.
Elizabeth at Running for Bling. I love this girl–I first met her at the Hood to Coast relays and then reconnected at the Runner’s World Half Marathon. She overcame a huge injury last year and is setting PR’s left & right.
Do you have a plan for writing blog posts?
