This post is certainly bittersweet to write as my little baby turned one year old June 11th.
Jada had her 12 month check-up and measured 30.5 inches (90th percentile) and 23 lbs 3 oz (also the 90th percentile). Her legs hang out of her car seat, but she still has a little room for her head before I need to get the next size up. Any suggestions?
And, those curls appeared within the last month! I dig them. I’ve been scrunching her hair with water in the morning to bring out the waves.
Curious. She is curious about everything. Loves to open & close drawers, cupboards, & doors, push any button (remote controls are favorite), explore her surroundings, toss clothes, stack things, carry things will walking, etc.
Books are still a favorite, though she flips those pages before I can even get a sentence in!
She has been walking for the past month, but now she is testing herself to see how fast she can go. And, she loves to push things, especially her new mower.
With the warm summer weather, we have gotten to see just how much she loves the water.
She especially loves playing with other kiddos, so I think we have a social butterfly. And, she doesn’t seem to shy away from new people yet. But, it helps to have mommy near.
So far, she hasn’t been a picky eater. She is expressing her opinions on favorite foods though…ice cream being one of them.
Other favorite foods include:
- sweet potatoes
- ground turkey
- fruit & veggie purees
And, she finally is drinking Vitamin D milk! She drinks it primarily during the day, and I offer it before water. She is still nursing in the morning & at night. I’d like to wean her completely, but now that she’s actually drinking milk, I’m not as anxious about it–almost like the pressure is off.
She also knows the signs for “eat” and “more”, but ends up pointing more often, until I prompt her.
She has been sleeping through night for the past month, but now the 12 month molars are coming in, so…I’ve had some wake up calls.
But, she generally has a happy disposition, so I can’t complain as long as I have enough caffeine!
Cooper is simply amazing. He is so patient.
Jada is really, really attached to him; loves to touch, pet and sometimes pull (a little too hard) his hair. She is fascinated by his food and water bowls, and loves to watch him eat.
He is “on duty” when she is awake and stays near us at all times. At night, he joins us in the bathroom for her bath, then follows us to her room where I nurse her. Dogs and kids are meant to be buddies.
