And just like that, Jada turned 7 months old last weekend!
This is a fun age; we can already see a personality developing.
She doesn’t have another check-up till 9 months, but we quickly weighed her at a follow-up flu shot appointment, and she’s 18 lbs. 13 oz. We are guessing she’s at least 27.5-28″ inches now. She is a long one!
I’m still breastfeeding Jada, and it’s going well, a sacrifice, but worth it. I do love our bonding time though, especially at bedtime. She eats 4x per day and at night <—we’ll discuss this later!
Now, we are adding solids and discovering favorite flavors. So, far oatmeal is hit-or-miss. It seems like she prefers it with cinnamon. She loves the pouches of fruits and veggies. I’ve also been cutting up banana & sweet potato so she can feed herself (or Cooper). It’s crazy to see her dexterity improve so quickly!
This one is on the move! She is seriously motoring around fast now–I cannot leave the room anymore–even for a few seconds (well, maybe if I sprint).
Once she discovered crawling at 6.5 months, she has been an active, happy girl.
She is drawn to cords, outlets, and generally anything she shouldn’t be (duh), so we have started the baby-proofing process. One of her favorite actual toys is the Tobbles Neo.
She loves knocking it over. Other favorites include sturdy books with 3D add-ons and noisy plastic toys or rattles she can bang on the floor.
And, she really wants to play with that baby in the mirror!
Jada has a great nighttime routine starting with a bath at 7 p.m. ,but she still isn’t sleeping through the night (I wonder how long I’ll type this sentence in her updates???). In fact, her sleeping patterns have regressed in last 2 weeks, getting up 2-3 times a night. I’m almost tempted to hide the baby monitor, so I’m not waking up when she stirs.
We’ve tried letting her cry, but often it’s easier for me to just nurse her (I know, I know). But, if she’s up, it’s not like we are sleeping. I also don’t want her to be scared at night or hate her crib, so it’s a fine line we toe in this sleeping game, eh? So, Starbucks is my friend of late.
Jada loves her Cooper.
She is most interested in his paws, and he, her toes!
He is so patient around her and generally aware of where she is. I love him.
Other than being generally tired, I feel pretty good!
I’m still not in the shape I’d like to be in, but I’m not beating myself up over it either.
As for workouts, my strength is returning, so I’m upping my weights with HIIT and CrossFit-style workouts. And, half marathon training will call for more discipline on my part. I’m going to do long runs with some of my co-workers–love running buddies!
I love a clean, tidy house, so I find a way to make that happen, usually it involves wearing Jada while vacuuming. However, most days, I don’t even check the computer till after Jada goes to sleep at 8 p.m. and even then it’s brief because I’m just tired. Any tips on productivity?
