Your dose of cute to start the day. She’s such a morning person!
I have a small group training session this morning. I love working with this group! They are legit and improving so much–I can’t wait to see how much they change in the 3 months (hopefully more) that we work together.
This weekend, I had a chance to see some friends I hadn’t seen in years.
In the summer of 2009, I was hired as the Director of Operations for the Purdue University Volleyball team. Yes. You read that right: Volleyball. The position didn’t involve coaching, so I was actually qualified.
In Nebraska, high school softball and volleyball are both fall sports, so I never played high school volleyball.
Oh yes. Freshman year in high school. Dig the shoe laces?
Spencer had been an assistant baseball coach at Purdue for the past 2 seasons, and I had been an Academic Success Counselor at Creighton’s School of Pharmacy and Health Professions. We had been living apart for almost 2 years. I still can’t believe we did that, but my job at Creighton was really good. Still…
Any hooters. I was sooooooooooo excited to work with the Purdue volleyball team and made the move to West Lafayette, IN. I loved, loved, loved the volleyball coaches and players. I hit the ground running trying to learn the position.
We were in the midst of youth volleyball camp when Spencer was offered the assistant baseball coach position at Washington State University. So, we moved in August, and I had to say good-bye to my brand new position (that I loved).
Your math is correct: In one summer, I moved from Omaha, NE to West Lafayette, IN to Pullman, WA.
Saturday, I got to reconnect with the staff.
Purdue played the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, so I made the hour drive from Omaha to see the match. I don’t have pics of the staff but you can see them HERE. I got to say hi before the match started, but I didn’t want to go all “blogger” on them with my camera!
I met up with my best friend Jenny and her girls. My parents were on Jada duty, since Spencer was out of town…again.
Aren’t they cuties?! They are tall too, so future volleyball players possibly?! Speaking of tall, this may be Jada’s sport if she keeps growing!
The Nebraska fans pack the Bob Devaney Center for every match. In fact, they have had 181 consecutive sell-outs dating back to 2001. But, Purdue upset the No. 8 Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday.
I often wonder what it would be like to be in that position still, but also know things happen for a reason.
What was your favorite summer job?
Do you have high school pictures as sexy as mine?!
