Last week, I told you about the GNC Total Lean Challenge. This program offers 12 weeks of workouts, meal plans and helpful articles…for FREE! Plus, you can when products from GNC on a weekly basis.
Week 2 is live with a new workouts and meals. Once the video is up, you just might recognize the trainer!
Some of the goals this week include eating 6 meals a day, drinking plenty of water and preparing meals for the week. I’d like to shoot for this year round!
CrossFit
Oh, it’s becoming more difficult for me! I simply get fatigued faster–it’s quite humbling but I will do what I can. This weekend, I did a fun WOD involving tabatas:

I used a 1 pood kettle bell which is 34#. The single arm KB snatches got my heart rate up-whew! But, they are so much fun–pretty technical or you’ll wind up with a forearm injury, so make sure you have a coach helping you prior. This was a great WOD, continuous tabatas for 16 minutes with warm-up, skill work and cool down.
Clean & jerk 1 rep max was another WOD. Now isn’t the time for me to try to PR or max out on lifts, but Olympic lifts are my favorite. I did 114# and felt really comfortable. But, when I bumped up to 121#, I failed to get it overhead. Boo! Because this is a lift from the ground, long socks were required.
I’ve been sharing a bit of what I have been eating lately, but I wanted to talk more in depth on vitamins and supplements.
Above, is the regimen I’m currently on. I take fish oil for healthy omega’s and to reduce inflammation. The probiotics aid in digestion by maintaining a healthy balance of intestinal bacteria. I’ve read that pregnancy can sometimes cause constipation, so I’m heading that off from the start!
Even Cooper takes vitamins & supplements. GNC offers a pet line too!
The Prenatal Program is great for women of child bearing age. So, even if you aren’t pregnant or even thinking about it, these vitamins can benefit you.
- 1,000 mcg of folic acid to support healthy fetal development
- 200 mg of DHA vital for baby’s brain and eye development
- 1,200 mg of bone-strengthening calcium
- 400 IU of vitamin D-3 to enhance calcium absorption
Many women take them well after they are done having children simply because we typically need calcium, iron, and healthy fats for a lifetime.
GNC has graciously offered to give 3 readers a chance to win a 30 day supply of their Prenatal Program! Open to US residents only. Winners will be announced on Friday, January 18th.

Would love to try the supplements as we’re trying to get pregnant right now! I currently take a multi, fish oils and probiotics. But always slack on my calcium…which is bad since I’m dairy free. Would love to try the line! Thanks for the great posts and giveaways!

I take a multi-vitamin every day but I think I should add Calcium and fish oil. I would like to be more proactive about these things but there are so many schools of thought about how much you need of each vitamin, etc that it gets a bit overwhelming sometimes. Love reading your posts about them though. Really helping me understand what each vitamin does and how it could benefit me. Thanks for that!
I currently take a generic prenatal and a Vitamin D supplement but I have wanted to add DHA to the mix.

I currently take a multi, ligaplex, and fish oil. I am looking to find whole food vitamins like B12 and calcium.
I’ve been using the GNC ultra mega active vitamins for women, I like getting a caffeine dose without having to make coffee in the morning. I also take calcium/D and echinacea. I’m convinced the echinacea has helped me not get sick at my new job in a high school where germs are everywhere!

I currently take a prenatal vitamin that was prescribed by my doctor. When I was pregnant, I was taking one that also had DHA but now I don’t. I’d love to try these ones out! Since I’m breastfeeding, I’ve been meaning to incorporate DHA back into my vitamin routine but have been waiting to use up my prenatal prescription. I’ve seen a few bloggers take these GNC prenatals so I’d love to try them out to!
I currently take a multi-vitamin (when I remember) and sometimes a probiotic as well. I’m participating in a Paleo challenge right now though and quit taking my probiotics. Mainly because I suddenly didn’t need them! I would like a better multi-vitamin and Fish oil though…

Hi! I Currently take a multivitamin, calcium, fish oil and iron. I take probiotics every other day as well. I have always been anemic (can’t seem to kick it!), and although I take iron, eat healthy and workout, I still feel fatigued after work. I would love to see what GNC’s vitamins can do for me!
Hi Becca-
I’ve always been anemic! I eat well, lots of beans & greens, took lots of iron & now I’m no longer anemic because of a procedure I had.
I can tell you, I’m not longer exhausted, no longer need iron via pill, I get via my foods & that’s enough.
It’s seriously made my life so much better!

I just found out I am pregnant two days ago, would obviously love to try the prenatals!
I’m not taking any supplements right now, but have been meaning to start. I met with a trainer a couple weeks ago who suggested at the very least to take a daily probiotic, so I will probably start there.

At 15 weeks pregnant myself – I’ve been on prenatal vitamins for about 6 months. I am on a generic prenatal vitamin which makes me want these fancy schmancy expensive and better vitamins!! I am also on a Omega and D3 vitamin from Whole Foods – my doctor recommended it and it doesn’t have any fish aftertaste so it’s worth every penny
I am currently 18 weeks pregnant and have been taking One A Day vitamins in my daily regimen. I never even thought of GNC for prenatal vitamins, I feel silly! I would like to add fish oil, but have never found one that doesn’t make me burp.
I don’t take any vitamins so I would just copy your regimen! :}
Currently take a prenatal even though my son is 18 months old
Should definitely up my calcium though since our little guy has a dairy allergy and we have cut out a lot of calcium rich foods.

I am a college student athlete and a vitamin junkie! The stressors of school and living in the dorms can be a damper on your health and I firmly believe my vitamin supplements have prevented sicknesses that circulate around campus.
I currently take Iron(runner’s must), calcium (especially important for women!), magnesium, fish oil, chromium, vitamin D, L-arginine, B-complex,Biotin, and a Multi-vitamin to help fill the gaps! I have tried other recommended vitamins/supplements but I only keep the supplements that I believe that work for me, that’s what matters
BTW: I occasionally take a chew-able papaya enzyme which aids the digestive enzymes in your stomach to digest protein since I have a moderate protein intake being an athlete!
