In case you were like me and didn’t venture out on Black Friday, you likely have some holiday shopping to do. Here are some of my favorite items for the athletes in your life, along with a couple on my wish list!
FOR THE RUNNER
1. iPhone Wrist Wallet – the Banjees wrist wallet easily holds your phone, key, ID & cash. Please practice safe running and always carry your phone.
2. Compression Socks - I wear The Recovery Sock which retail a bit lower than most brands. You can also save 15% on your entire purchase by using code ja001dw. I’ve been impressed with the durability and fit.
3. Yurbuds - earphones that stay put. Ideal for running outdoors and indoors. I have always battled with fit on earphones but not anymore.
4. Smart Touch Running Gloves – Zensah solved the problem of frigid fingers manipulating an ipod or phone with Smart Glove technology. Keep the gloves on while you change songs or volume.
5. Running Skirts – for the runner that likes to stand out in a race, these skirts are flattering and comfortable.
6. Races – Surprise your runner with a race entry or race-cation!
FOR THE AT HOME ATHLETE
1. Gymboss Interval Timer This tool is my favorite piece of portable equipment. I use it to teach every class and for most of my home workouts.
2. Ultimate Sandbag - This tool is dynamic and versatile. You can adjust the weight of the bag easily, and it’s durability allows for a wide range of movements. Here are a couple ideas.
3. Sparkly Soul Headband – no slip, one size fits all, and sparkles all around. Great way to dress up your workout gear!
4. TRX Suspension – After I went through certification (I still need to blog about that), I have been eyeing one of these for the home. Note: this is pricey at almost $200.
FOR THE NEW ATHLETE
1. Polar Heart Rate Monitor - this allows one to keep tabs on calories burned, average heart rate & max heart. Great tool for running, circuits, & cycling to name a few. The watch is attractive too (model FT 40 shown below)
2. Technical workout clothing – cotton just doesn’t last when you are working up a sweat. Fabric that is moisture wicking and holds shape is ideal.
3. Protein Powder – after muscles are taxed, it’s important to fuel them with protein within 30-60 minutes of working out. GNC’s best selling protein powder is the Pro Performance AMP 60 providing a whopping 60 grams of protein.
Another option, is the Total Lean 25 which provides 25 grams of protein and 9 grams of fiber.
4. iTunes Gift Card – help your new athlete stay motivated with upbeat music . P.S. this is a great gift for fitness instructors too (hint, hint).
FOR THE CROSSFIT ATHLETE
Oh, I could go a little crazy here! There are quite a few items I have on my wish list!
1. Footwear – The Reebok Nano is the best selling CrossFit shoe because of its versatility and comfort. So many bright colors to choose from!
2. Long Socks- it’s not a fashion statement (well, maybe a little), but they protect your shins on rope climbs and lifts from the ground like dead lifts.
3. Tops – you want tops that allow for a wide range of movements like in the overhead position or for pull-ups with strategic seams or no seams at all.
4. Bottoms - same philosophy holds true for your shorts, capris, and pants. CrossFit involves squats, running, box jumps to name a few which require forgiving seams and construction.
FOR THE HEALTHY NOSHER
1. Healthy Bites from Lindsay Cotter are amazing morsels of goodness. Check out her seasonal flavors too!
2. Nature Box – get healthy, unique snacks delivered directly to your doorstep. You can be surprised or choose your favorite snacks.
3. Blissful Eats – Nicole creates delicious, organic granola, gluten free chocolate treats and more available to order!
4. GNC Vitapaks - make sure you are getting all your vitamins, select a convenient vitapak that fits your, specific needs.
Gosh, I know I’m missing something! So, tell me…
What is on your wish list this year?

You hit a ton of great stuff here–lots of my favorites! I really want to get the sandbag set–just looks like a fun way to go about it. And a GymBoss timer would be perfect.
No black Friday for me either!!
misszippy recently posted..Looks can be deceiving
The sandbag is really cool because you can always change its weight for different movements!
I’m so ticked I finished my Christmas Wish List for my family before I thought to put Compression Socks on there!
Erica { EricaDHouse.com } recently posted..Am I a Runner Yet?
Nice work! Compression is almost a necessity for long distance training!
can you please give this list to santa for me? I want all them. THank you for the healthy bite love. COme visit! that’s another gift i want!

Of course–your healthy bites rock, seriously!!
I just ordered my Active Vitapak from Amazon (sorry, was a bit cheaper than GNC and free shipping). But does GNC every do the buy one get one 50% off anymore? With the Gold Card it was a great deal.
I am struggling to come up with christmas gifts this year. Any suggestions help!
The Kidless Kronicles
Nicole@TheKidlessKronicles recently posted..Tuesday: Who knew
Oh hey, wherever you can score a deal, right?!
Usually, they do offer a range of products for the 50% but I’m not sure what the method of selection is???
I would like barbells! Seeing your pic reminded me I want medicine ball. What’s a good secure sports bra?
Oh, a med ball! Great call! So my favorite sports bra for running is the Moving Comfort Juno–supportive and makes my boobs look like boobs, not cones!
Love this list!!! Dear Santa!!! Polars rock!

DOn’t you love your Polar Mindy? I use mine all the time!

Omigosh, me too–There is a ton you can do with TRX–just a little pricey for me right now!
So many great items, I want them all!
I definitely want an interval timer to add to my list as well as some great seamless tanks. Headbands, protein powder and iTunes are up there too, but I’ll start with the timer

Sarah Z recently posted..Pin-It Tuesday: Thanksgiving Dishes
Sarah, I seriously use my timer all-the-time–my classes probably hate it ha ha! But, it allows me to work, encourage and correct form without counting! So nice!
In December 2011, I decided to try something different. So instead of making a bunch of New Years resolutions that I never keep, I decided to take a word and see how it developed in my life for the year. So for 2012 I took on the word “Overcome”. So along with Ali Edwards at Big Picture Classes I took the One Little Word class. I would have never imagined how things have changed in my life.
So I would recommend not only working your physical body but working on your thoughts and mind too. Not that everyone has to work on the word OVERCOME, but working on the some of the self talk or the numerous other damaging thoughts that we put our selves through. I am planning on taking One Little Word again in 2013, And I think the word that found me was JOY so we will see how that word develops in my life.
Here is a link to last years class she will have the new class up soon. (http://www.bigpictureclasses.com/onelittleword.php)
Good luck this year in selecting and making your word count Bev!
On my wish list this year are some new running shoes and Arnold’s Encyclopedia of Body Building!!! Lol! I hear its the fitness Bible! What are the benefits of compression socks for running? …besides looking cute?
Running shoes that fit well are so important! I have not looked into that book–sounds like it could go on my list!
OH and compression aids in recovery by increasing circulation to tired/taxed muscles. I never realized how much I would need it until I started running longer distances!
I love suspension training. The school I work out has two sets of Jungle Gym XT which you may want to look into. They work as well as TRX in my opinion and are a bit cheaper. Thanks for all your ideas!
Thanks for the suggestion!! The TRX home trainer is pricey, but so versatile!
Jess, this is such a GREAT LIST!! I pretty much want everything on here. Maybe I’ll be forwarding this to a few Santas….:) A TRX system would be so cool, as would a HR monitor, but I really like the idea of gifting race entries!
Addy @ Six-Kick Switch recently posted..What Do You Think About?
Thanks Addy! Hoping the list helps spur some thoughtful gift-giving even if the item isn’t listed here!
My hubby actually of gifting the race entry! how clever, huh?!
Love all of these suggestions and loved how you grouped them by the recipient! I never thought of the TRX system as a gift item but that would totally make for an awesome home gym setup! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Tess! I’m hoping the list helps a few hard-to-shop-for peeps out there!
I realize it’s heavily female focused though!
I bought two things from 2 of your links for Christmas gifts.
oh good! Glad you got some ideas!!
This parfume!

Damnit. Amateur move on my part.
What a great list! I want everything! Just a question, do the compression socks or recovery socks help with shin splints. Or do you know of something that helps prevent/treat them. I ice of course but seem to always get them! Thank you for any advice
HI Jessica! The Compression won’t necessarily help treat the shin splits, but may feel a little better. KT Tape helps as does the icing post run!
Thanks for the great gift ideas! My husband and I are both asking for wireless earphones this year!
Emily @ Emily Eats and Runs recently posted..Looks familiar
OH that’s a good one too!
OH my gosh – I NEED those Yurbuds! I have always thought I have weird ears because Apple earbuds never stay in while I’m running. These will be a lifesaver
I also have Lululemon’s new high rise wunder unders on my list, love them!
Becky @ Olives n Wine recently posted..O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree!
I have heard so many good things about the wunder unders! Yes, the yurbuds are a MUST!
Ooh, what an awesome list, Jess! I’m pinning this, and I’ll share this with my family for some ideas..
I love that you included Healthy Bites and Blissful Eats on there, we’ve got to support our FFAs!

Awesome list!! I just sent this post to my husband and family so they’ll have ideas on what to get me. And this gives me great ideas for my runner friends, too.
And LOVE Healthy Bites!
Kristen @ Happy Running Mama recently posted..Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda
Ha! I hope you get exactly what you want!!
Very good list! I haven’t told my parents yet what my heart desires from Santa … but better do that soon. Otherwise I end up with pie plates or more candles. Or “Mom, just give me money” works, haha
Since it should be the season of giving rather than gluttony (supposedly) I think this is a perfect list for fitness friends. I like the idea of gifting the Recovery Socks (or other compression socks) and the iTunes gift card myself!
Christina recently posted..Runner’s Radar: hiking, Cyber Monday, Mommyhood
I think those are great selections for you!!
Just a great list! Thanks so much for sharing this~
Those yurbuds see pretty neat!
You bet! Hopefully it helps!
I just bought the Yurbuds and they are AWESOME. I never ran with headphones in bc they are so annoying, but these fix all of those falling out problems. Seriously, a great product!
Jess Wakasugi {Life’s Simple Measures} recently posted..Secret Recipe Club: Apple Cinnamon Truffles
Don’t you love them?! Especially on windy days!!
Great ideas!!! I cannot wait to get back at the gym. It’s odd to be jealous of people and their activity! I bought a TRX a few years ago and it is amazing to take to the park behind our house. Ideally I wanted to have it in my house, but I was afraid my ceiling would cave in. I should cut back on my chocolate intake.
Katy @ Fit In Heels recently posted..The EASIEST Eat Clean meal you will ever make!
ha ha!! I’m so excited to see your little bundle of joy! Due tomorrow aren’t you?! You get all the chocolate you deserve mama!!
I think I will just give my husband a link to this blog post, and say, “This is what I want.” So many great ideas!
ha ha! SOunds like a plan to me Stefanie!
Great list! My hubby got me yurbuds for my birthday and I love them. They really do stay in place! I love TRX and keep looking for a good deal on Amazon, but $200 is pretty much what they run. :/
I signed up for my first crossfit competition in Spokane for January. I am super nervous! Going to participate in the novice division since I don’t really know what my ability is. I have only been going for a little over 1 month.
I know, I think TRX holds pretty steady
I’m pumped for you Tasha! And, anxious to see how CrossFit impacts your running!
Love all of the gift ideas! Do you find that compression socks help a lot on long runs? I have never worn them but am contemplating on wearing them for the mini marathon I will be running
Danielle recently posted..LÄRABAR Giveaway
I have run in my compression socks for long runs and they definitely help–I haven’t ever raced in them, but know many runners do!
love your list! mine is going up soon!

elizabeth recently posted..What’s Really Going On
Can’t wait to read it!
Great list! I really need the Yurbuds! I struggle with mine all the time. I would also love a running skirt, Garmin, new running shoes, new swim suit and other new swimming gear (new to lap swimming), and a medicine ball for when I am not able to get to the gym.
Heather @ Operation Determination recently posted..Ideal run
You’ve got your list down Heather! Yes, the yurbuds are really amazing–totally stay put!
new to your blog!

You know, I’ve never ever tried on running skirts before. People make them look so cute, I need to try it out!
TorontoRunner recently posted..My Happy Weight
Thanks for visiting!! I really love the Running Skirts and they have built in shorts!
What a great guide! I love the sandbag. My husband made his own out of an old duffle bag and ducktape, but it’s 100lbs. And really slippery. But he’s a hard core Crossfitter so it’s no biggie for him. Ha! I really can’t do anything with it. I need something more managable, I like the one you’ve featured.
Sarah @RunFarGirl recently posted..Holiday Gift Guide
GOod job by your hubby! There’s no way 100 lbs would work for me either! Maybe dead lifts??
I like almost EVERYTHING on this list. But I don’t have a use for the gloves (good ol’ FL weather)
I haven’t tried TRX yet, but really want to. Sadly, my gym has two sets of the straps, but they are in the Personal Training area and they don’t offer any kind of TRX class – they just use them for special (pay extra) classes or PT.
Beka @ rebecca roams recently posted..#HOLIDAYADAY Photo Challenge
TRX straps are always in high demand that’s too bad! You lucky duck–warm FL weather! Jealous!
I love my HRM. I could always use some compression socks. I would love a few new workout outfits. You can never have too much, right? Great list!
Leonor @FoodFaithFitness recently posted..Working Out While Sick & Pumpkin Fest
I love my Polar HRM!!
Love your list! Any suggestions for running tights for the lovely winters in Minnesota? I need a pair for someone who is 5’9 and can keep ya warm but not overwarm. Thanks! Just found your blog and I love it!
HI Michele! I hear ya on length! Reebok has some compression tights: http://shop.reebok.com/us/product/women-crossfit-compression-tight-apparel/TI305?cid=W44122&breadcrumb=u3ZsxZ1z12y33 & I have worn Nike cold weather tights that work well too! Sometimes I combine my compression socks with capris too!
Thanks for putting out this list – most excellent! I need, I need, I need – the Yurbuds, mine keep falling out as I run. I have never used a heart rate monitor, but after your posting the polar watch and some of the discussion it sounds like something I could use. One thing on my list is trail running shoes, with of course the above added now.

Patty V recently posted..Just one more (sorry) . . . regarding my first half marathon
Great ideas! Thanks for sharing! I’m asking for the new Reebok nano 2.0. I hope they stand up to the hype!
One more question on those vitamin packs. What are the differences between the active pack and the energy pack??
They differ in the specific supplements within the vitapaks.
