Since we have moved to Omaha, we now have access to multiple CrossFit boxes. It’s so nice to be in a city again!

I was quite anxious [read: nervous] going into my first official CrossFit box.
I have high expectations going into any athletic situation and feel like I should conquer it.
But, that’s the humbling beauty of CrossFit. No matter how in shape you feel, the prescribed WOD’s will break you down.
Before our intro workout, we saw Stacie training. She is competing in The Games next week!

Coach and I have been following many of the WOD’s while we were in Pullman. Examples here, here & here.
But, there is something wholly motivating about a group environment and an actual coach to direct you.
Addi was our instructor; she rocked. Very patient and thorough with explanations of movements.
We went through a dynamic warm-up then tackled box jump variations, ball slams, prowler pushes, push-ups, and single arm overhead head walking lunges with a pood (Russian term for kettle bell weight). Coach did a full pood, mine was 12 kg.
How can we be smoked after 5 minutes?! We got through +2x and were sweaty beasts.
This Sunday, we will head back to CrossFitOmaha to watch teams from Lincoln, Omaha, & Kansas City compete as part of a travel fundraiser for the Nebraska athletes listed above.
Should be a nice lead-in to The CrossFit Games which begin on Friday, July 13th on ESPN3.

Conquer it, you did. Don’t think either of you slowed down once.
See you two tomorrow!
Thanks Addi! You rock! Looking forward to tomorrow!
I am so interested in joining Crossfit with all the Healthy Living bloggers out there doing it. I’m just a little leery of the price.
Meghan, I so understand that. CrossFit Omaha offers a $130 or $79 option and a discount for married couples, military or firemen, so that helps a little.
DANG … I would be ALL OVER the $79 option. The military price here is $180 haha. I miss my WODs at my old box
I was worried about the price too. BUT, CF has become my social group, my extended family, and my passion…all for the price of a starbucks coffee and a redbox movie a day. I gladly exchange my $5 a day workout for the junk. I hhave gained so much!
@Madeline I think that will be a good option for us once baseball season hits!
@Wymberly Freaking love the way you worded that! I seriously will fork over $$$ to invest in my health and well-being and gladly live in a smaller house to do so!
I just did one of your workouts the other day and am quite a fan of your blog now
I’m so glad you conquered your first crossfit box experience! That workout sounds awesome. I want to get in no the crossfit love and have been doing some of the workouts they post at home because its so darn expensive. Maybe sometime I’ll dish out the money for it though, it looks like a ton of fun!
Thanks Lisa! So, glad you tried it out and commented! Love your blog! It is pricey for sure–I hope we have it in our budget!
Just found your blog and love it! Not only do you know your stuff but your writing style is so engaging. I’m looking forward to giving your workouts a go.
One of my best friends loves he Crossfit but I’ve yet to try it. It’s about $100 more per month than my gym membership and just not in our budget. Plus I’m a little leery of some of the exercises. I have knee issues and all the box jumps and the like won’t work for me.
Thank you Mary!! Your words really warm my heart! Yes, Crossfit is very pricey–I guess we will have to really tighten our budget b/c I DO love the community.
That’s awesome you finally got to go to a real box! Although if anyone is in “crossfit shape” without having done crossfit it’s you.
That picture you posted of the girl clean and pressing is INSANE. I wonder if that is like 100lbs..
Omigosh Thank you!! Yes, Stacie is incredibly strong and competitive!
I’m glad you have access to a box now! It is so different than doing it on your own. I know I would never get the same workout if I was just doing WODs by myself.
Heck yes I’ll be watching the games!
I totally get it now—and that’s only after one WOD!
I so wish we had a box here. I do my best at our gym and a lot of what we do is based on CrossFit, and now that I’m teaching, I’m going to be trying to bring in even more.
Can’t wait for the games! See you in 4 days!
Scott you do amazing work at your gym–I had no idea it wasn’t a box!! See you soon!

Ahhh! AMRAP kill me! Just wait until you get to the 20 minute AMRAPs. I’ve seen firefighters practically cry during them.
But I’m pretty freaking jazzed for the Crossfit games. I’m going to have to find a TV to watch them on. Do you know if they are streaming them live anywhere?
Oh gosh….to think about adding 15 MORE minutes to that…one day! I think they are being streamed on ESPN3.
VERY cool! I’ve heard such wonderful things about CrossFit — not only the effectiveness of the workouts but also the team environment you mention, with a coach guiding you along. Someday…
Thanks for sharing! Have fun at the games – looking forward to recaps
Sounds like you might becoming a regular at the cross fit gym now! There is an all women’s cross fit gym in Spokane that I might join…someday.
Looks like a fun WOD. I haven’t had much time at the box due to my back strain. I love the team WOD’s. They are fun.
So glad you’re loving CrossFit! It has changed my life in so many amazing ways. Nate Schrader was actually my first Official CF coach & he & his wife are also a great friends. I also met the love of my life through Nate. My boyfriend AJ Moore, who is also a competitive CrossFitter, & Nate were training partners when we lived in NC. If you’re ever in south Florida come see us at CF Delray Beach!
