Travel Body Weight WOD

Countdown to The CrossFit Games:  11 days.  I can hardly wait!
Thanks to GNC, I will be live tweeting and posting daily from the event using the twitter hashtag #CrossFitGNC starting Friday, July 13-15th.
I hope you will follow along. I can’t wait to see these athletes in real life!

Making time for a workout on the road and during a wedding weekendis a challenge in itself.

Completing a WOD (workout of the day) at 10,000 feet is the topper!

After warming up with a walk/jog in downtown Breckenridge, CO, Coach and I scanned the area for a flat, green space to perform our travel WOD.
We completed a dynamic warm-up before tackling this WOD.
When creating this, we were looking at a full body routine that kept our heart rates up and strengthened our upper & lower body with an emphasis on core work. Mission accomplished.

Whew, not sure if it was the altitude, workout, or the late nights, but this one kicked us! We cooled down and ordered breakfast wraps at a local cafe.

GNC sent Coach and I a few more products to incorporate into our active lifestyles:
Pre-WOD
This product is made of fast-absorbing amino acids helping fuel a powerful workout. BCAA’s (Branched Chain Amino Acids) stimulate protein synthesis and reduce protein breakdown helping to preserve valuable lean muscle.
Coach uses this on heavy lifting days and for his CrossFit WOD’s, and I alternate it with ProSculpt (which comes in Blue Raspberry flavor now).
I still like the thermogenic qualities (300% increased calorie burning and fat oxidation) of ProSculpt, but Rapid Drive will be crucial in maintaining a lean physique.
Post-WOD
The AMP protein powder enhances muscle strength, size and stamina with a powerful, protein combination of whey and leucine. What’s the 60 stand for? Oh, merely 60 grams of protein! What?!
Coach was salivating once he read the supplement facts. He loves it post-workout.
If I ever compete in a figure competition (see my FitnessBucketList) where I need to increase muscle size, AMP will be my go-to protein powder. For now, I love, love the Total Lean 25 series (especially French Vanilla).
Glutamine is one of the most abundant amino acids found in the skeletal muscles.  Prolonged high-intensity exercise has been shown to decrease glutamine levels, which may result in glutamine deficiency.
Just add a heaping teaspoon to water or juice 2 hours after exercise to help preserve lean muscle.
Do you have a rigid pre and post workout fuel routine?
-I do now. Before a WOD, I like Pro-Sculpt but if I don’t have time, I will take 2-3 Meta-Ignite pills.
Does it change depending on the activity?
With early morning runs, I prefer Meat-Ignite so I don’t have a “sloshing stomach”!

  3. awesome workout! have so much fun at the CrossFit games! pumped to follow your experience:)

  4. Sounds like lots of fun! Can’t wait to hear all the updates!

  5. Ahh the games are gonna be SO awesome!

My pre-workout food is breakfast and I drink BCAAs on the way to the gym. My post-workout food is whey and prunes. Usually doesn’t change much unless I’m not lifting then I might have a slower digesting carb. But let’s be real…I’m always lifting. :)

  6. I always have egg whites after a run/workout. Seriously 60 grams of protein? That sucker is like 9 points plus (WW)! Holy cow!

  7. man just finished this WOD – in my 87 degree apartment… holy cannoli the heat! I think i eat too much before a workout.. sometimes cereal with strawberries, sometimes a bagel and banana, sometimes yogurt with granola… depends on how much I’m running and what else I’m doing with it… again probably too much but oh well =) does the pro sculpt fill you up??

  8. The altitue gets me big time! I went to Colorado for the first time last September and was shocked by how winded I got so quickly! That looks like a great no equipment workout of the day. I will definitely be trying it next time I am sans any equipment! :)

  9. L-Glutamine has been a staple in my life after hard runs or races for about 4 years. Swear by that stuff.

You should have called me for your open space workout in the altitude! Of course, I could barely walk, but I could have cheered you guys on! :) Hope you had a great trip, sorry we didn’t hook up! :(

  10. I’m imagining that as some point we’ll be watching you “In the games” :)

I hope you had fun in Breck! I love it there. Love the WOD too. Great.

  11. Egg whites and oats fuel me for workouts. Protein shake after.

  12. Just got over here from PBF mentioning your workout – looks killer! Are you by chance in Manitou? I was at a wedding there in the fall – SO FLIPPIN BEAUTIFUL!!! I seriously considered moving there following the event haha

  13. Great workout! Thanks! I was wondering if you could explain what your dynamic warm up is? You seem to dO it before your workouts and I would love to see it. Thanks!!
