Summer typically involves lots of travel, so portable, non-perishable, healthy snacks are a must. Right?
I tried to press the mixture into a sheet pan, but worked best was microwaving the mix on 50% for 45 seconds.
Makes about 20 protein bites. They are pretty sweet and very chewy. No need to refrigerate, just store in an air-tight container.
I got my nails did…finally. It’s a sea-foam color with a sprinkle of “fairy dust” on top. Very summery!

1. Cooper & his “Piggy” pillow pet. He was overly concerned when Piggy went into the washer and seem relieved once Piggy emerged from the dryer. Would you agree?
2. Cooper “hunting” for rabbits. He’s happy to run off leash, but once I leash him back up-he’s in slow-mo.
3. Cooper enjoying the last few bites of protein cake.
4. Cooper in the morning. This is what I wake up to when Coach is traveling. Seriously. Cooper misses his “dad’ so he sleeps on his pillow.
Running:
It’s Day 16 of the Run Streak and I have been keeping up (at least 1 mile per day till July 4th). How about you?!
I usually get my week-day runs in at lunch and can take my time on the weekends.
What do you pack for fuel when you take an extended road trip?
Would you go streaking at a sporting event if someone paid you?

The protein bits look yummy and will be a nice change from my regular snacks. No. I probably wouldn’t streak. I’m curious to see how many people would.

I know! That’s why I asked!
They are pretty tasty and refrigeration!!
Bonus!
These look good. I just posted a recipe for chocolate blueberry protein bar. You may like it. Ha! I am doing the running streak and so far I am loving it. A sort of accountability method. This is my first time in your blog and I am loving it!
Thanks for visiting Maria! And, glad to hear I have another “partner in crime” pursuing the Runner’s World Run Streak!
Those look yummy! I usually am so busy packing the entire kitchen for my daughter’s snacks that I just end up grabbing nuts for me. Very exciting I know!! I’m keeping up the streak…1 mile on my off days and then my regular mileage on the other days! My daughter loves our 1 mile “to the end of the neighborhood” runs before dinner! She talks the ENTIRE time…like a running commentary of what we are doing and seeing!
Omigosh I love that you and your daughter share that time together. I’m so impressed–you are carrying child #2 AND running regularly!! LOVE IT!
Looks yummy! I’ll have to try them sometime!
Cooper looks so happy and content with his piggy, so cute!
I hope you try them! Yes, Coopy carries Piggy every where!
If these are anywhere near as good as your protein bars, I’m on board.
I think they would be GREAT for your trail runs with Bungee girl!!
Those are really adorable. I am crazy about cranberries, like super crazy. I still have some fresh ones in the freezer from the holiday season
I ration them all year, lol.
Cran lover–I think these are right up your alley!
yum looks great!! i try to pack like, fresh fruit, veggies, string cheese, nuts, etc. for road trips. i feel like its so easy to eat junk like all carbs or sugar so i definitely need to plan snacks out!
That’s exactly want I want my cooler filled with as we travel this summer!
You are rocking the run streak and those protein bites are calling my name…kind of jealous Cooper even got to enjoy one:) LOVE YOUR NAILS!! PS remind Spencer that you guys always have a place to stay in N. Cali when you come to visit:)
You better believe we will be in NorCal to visit our favorite couple PLUS one!
I’ve been reading and favorite-ing all your workouts so I can rotate them in for like the past week! And I love all your recipes because I need simple/quick ready to eat foods… as for road trips – I road tripped to florida from connecticut with my dog and while i had carrots and apples and almonds… I also had starburst jelly beans… and stopped at chick fil a because we don’t have them and I love to eat it when we go home!! I wanted to do the run streak but I’m having a hate relationship with running right now because my first marathon was a nightmare… so I’ve kind of been taking a break but I’m almost ready to jump back in and take revenge =) I’m planning on the vegas marathon in december!!
Thank you Holly! I’m so glad my recipes and workouts speak to you and your lifestyle! Starburst jelly beans are so tough to resist!! Vegas! I ran the half last year!
I featured your feisty fifty workout on my blog today!! It totally kicked my booty to the curb! I have some work to do =)
I love that they don’t need to be kept cool. My homemede bars are kept in my cooler when I am out. No streaking for me! Although I did read about a blogger who ran a 5k NAKED!
A Naked 5k! Holy chafing!
Yes, they have kept really well in a baggie!
you know those protein bites are right up my alley! i should hire you for healthy bites. YUM!! Blondy bites!
I can’t compete with your healthy bites Lindsay!! They are the BOMB!
For me, whey protein bites can be one of the easiest to consume this supplement, that’s my own point of view of this things.
I might streak even if they didnt pay me
you know, whilst carrying my pistachios for travel snacks and all…
Aw, the lil green nuts! Good call!!
I pack nuts and Luna bars on trips now along with regular Quaker Oats granola bars for the kiddo (she is brand picky unfortunately and I pick and choose my battles, ha ha). I actually discovered a very new favorite travel bar to me, the White Chocolate Macadamia Clif bars – they are to die for. A little higher sugar than what I normally try to have in a bar, but if you have a full day of hiking and travel, they are great for energy and hiking burns off the any of the calories – a delicious treat
I’ll sometimes pack other brand bars if I get a good deal. I don’t take along protein powder, it is just too complicated for me to deal with while traveling. Something new to me on my next travel, we’re taking along the Brita water bottles that filter tap water on-the-go. Hoping to use these in the hotel rooms now instead of having to buy bottled water!
Brita water bottles?! I love it–I always hate the waste that comes with bottled water. I know exactly what you mean about the Clif bars–yum!
You should stop posting recipes!
I have no self control and seem to eat all of the “snacks” within 2 days of making them. Seriously, I had to stop making your protien bars because I would grab one almost every time I was in the kitchen! Yikes!
I would like to say I would streak, but I am way to chicken!
Oh man Tressa! I have been snacking on these like crazy!
you had me at vanilla almond
Love that you added chia seeds!
They are pretty nom-nom!!
These sound incredible! Totally bookmarking for later!
I went through them a lil too fast if you know what I mean!
