I want to pop a pill and instantly have a six-pack, ripped arms and defined legs. Who wouldn’t want it that easy?

Using supplements without putting in some serious gym-time and following a healthy eating plan are a waste of money.
But, if you are willing to put in the work, then GNC’s line of GenetixHD products are for you. I am currently using the Pro-Sculpt, Physio-Burn and Meta-Ignite in combination with strength training and regular cardio.
GenetixHD line

I’m not using the products as an excuse to cut my workouts short or snack more. In fact, I WANT to workout longer and harder (TWSS).
Check my dailymile account and you will see an increase in interval work and two-a-day workouts over the past 2 months.
Here is an example of how to use the GenetixHD line.

*When Stacking BOTH Meta-Ignite and Pro-Sculpt, Customers should use One Serving of Meta-Ignite Before a Workout daily, and Only ONE serving of Pro-Sculpt daily, taken immediately upon waking.
Because I am using all 3 products, I drink the Pro-Sculpt in the morning, opting to use the Meta-Ignite before workouts.
I love drinking the Pro-Sculpt before a run or early morning spinning class where I want some energy (only 30 cals) but not a heavy meal. The fruit punch flavor tastes great, and I am very picky with powdered drinks. I drink mine with cold water, ice and using a straw–goes down easy!
Meta-Ignite is my secret weapon for HIIT class and speed work. Extreme energy? Yes, please.
Meta-Ignite
With lunch or dinner, I will take a packet of Physio-Burn. Just like my beloved Vitapak, the convenience is hard to deny.
Physio-Burn
EATING and supplements
In order to maximize the products’ effectiveness, I have started eating more. Let me clarify: I have started eating smaller meals, more often. I aim to balance protein & carbs in every meal and snack. For example, if I’m craving cereal, I add protein powder to my milk.
TRAINING and supplements
The GenetixHD products are most effective when used in combination with a strength training program. Over the past 2 months, I have been doing strength training at least 3 times/week, but if I want to see even more notable results, then I need to lift heavier at least 4 times/week.

Cardio work is crucial along with varying intensities. This is where interval training on the treadmill comes in for me. Push yourself out of your comfort zone on occasion to confuse your body and see physical changes. Amp up the speed or increase the incline.
*Edit: Updated body composition results here and meal plan and supplement stack here.
I will continue the plan for another month before taking a second body composition. I’m excited to see the changes and fat loss. Remember why I wear black?
To summarize, here are the current GNC products I’m using:
GNC GenetixHD™ Physio-Burn™
GNC GenetixHD™ Pro-Sculpt™ – Fruit Punch
GNC GenetixHD™ META-IGNITE™
GNC Women’s Ultra Mega Active Vitapak
GNC Total Lean Protein Powder

I take a multivitamin, fish oil, glucosamine, and calcium supplements. I can definitely tell on the days I forget.
Funny story, there is a guy that runs all of the local races that always wears the tiny womens compression shorts in that first picture…only his are pink.
That’s too funny Kari! I would probably stare.
Supplements make a big difference for me too!
I take just a vitamin right now. I used to take a lot of supplements that contained ephedra…no good. I was out on a long run (my last 20 miler before Boston) and stopped short in my tracks convinced I was having a heart attach! Turned out it was the ephedra and I was ok. I get nervous now about supplements in that I don’t want to risk that but these sound great. I loved the way the supplements helped my energy levels and oxygen use. I will have to look into these because as I said I do love supplements and all their benefits. My hubby is a supplement man too…our fridge is lined with them!!
I used to take ephedra too-but I never had any side effects…I liked it. But, I feel so good on this line I’m never turning back. There is a GNC Raw line out now that your hubby may like!
I take a vitamin and glucosamine!
My Cooper takes glucosamine too!
i think supplements are important when you are doing high intensity training. gotta keep that body well nourished and energized!!
Exactly and some added energy to teach class doesn’t hurt either!
I don’t take anything. I have been thinking that maybe I should start but my body is super sensitive to viatmins. A lot of the basic ones make me so queasy.
I would start with some basics like Fish Oil and Calcium to see what you can tolerate!
i am glad you post about the GNC products you love…i went into a store the other day and left totally overwhelmed because i wasnt sure where to begin. i actually made a mental note to come back and see what YOU use so that i knew i was getting the best products
thanks for the post!
WOW! Thanks for trusting in me to offer you some advice! Yes, this line works for me BIG time. I don’t feel the “shakes”–totally enhance my workouts.
I take a daily vitamin when I remember and that’s about it! Protein powder is a favorite of mine when I have more time.
I take a multi & glucosamine – when I remember. I am not good at taking pills every day. I do believe that some supplements work if you put into the effort. Are you getting any of the flushing from the Niacin?
I have not experienced any flushing. I follow the plan above and my body adapts well!
Wow, I’m loving the info! Thanks for sharing
I currently take a multivitamin (with probiotic) and fish oil. Seems to be going okay for me! And protein powder is used regularly, too.
All great choices! Looks like you are ahead of the game!
I take a multi, calcium (since I hate dairy), glucosamine, and fish oil.
I think it is really REALLY REALLY important to emphasize that people should talk to their doctor BEFORE taking supplements and actually read and research the ingredients. Especially if they have a health condition.
Is it worth having a cut body if you drop dead because of something that conflicts with a medication or causes a rise in blood pressure (especially for peeps like me that are medicated for high bp)? I haven’t gotten past the supplements recommended by my doctor because I’m just not sure it is worth it for me (most of them specifically say to avoid if you have heart issues).
I think this is a GREAT point Danielle! I probably should put something like that in the original post. Thanks for taking the time to read!
Are you planning on doing figure competitions? You are so tall and beatiful with a great base, you’d be perfect at it!
Kristen, you are too kind! Thank you. Gosh, I don’t know if I could follow the rigorous diet plans of those ladies leading up to competition! Something that has crossed my mind though!
You should think about it!
Used to be big on the supplements back when I was heavy into lifting. Now I focus on things to try and keep well and keep my joints working (ECGC, Glucosamine chondroitin, and fish oil). Took some crazy supplements back in high school in the 80s for lifting. Nothing illegal, but most of which they stopped making many years ago. I’m guessing they were largely giant cans of caffeine, but we were never lacking for energy at the gym.
ha! Love that you were never “lacking” energy. yes, this line makes me feel energized minus the heart palpitations!
That cartoon makes me laugh out loud! I love it. I haven’t been to serious w/ supplements, but maybe I need to give them another go. I was doing Shaklee Vitalizer for awhile, but didn’t notice a ton of difference.
Jan, I think it can be a very personal choice–I hope yu find what works for you!
Thanks for sharing your experience with the supplements! I have tried some different ones on and off and I think its important to test different ones with lower dosages to see how your body reacts.
For example, though I am very caffeine/stimulant tolerant, I recently tried Craze from Drive Sports and while the energy was great, even if I took it at 5pm, I had trouble sleeping!
For the GNC ones you recommend, have you had any issues with sleeplessness, especially for afternoon/evening workouts?
Great point Adam. I do not take the MegaIgnite after 4 p.m. so as to not disrupt my sleep. Any later, I would be up all night!
I haven’t used any of the products by GNC – I’m intrigued to see how my body would react to them. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
T.
Yes! I love the GNC line–I would recommend starting with small amounts to see how you like the various supplements!
I entirely entirely AGREE.
We <3 GNC.
I don’t take any supplements, but I think the meta ignite might be helpful for my workouts.
MegaIgnite and I are totally dating!
Thanks for sharing what’s working for you. I love to hear about what products other people are loving. Right now, I am just using a whey protein powder once a day, and that’s about it. You have definitely got me thinking about switching up my program!
Lauren, let me know what specific questions you have. REALLY love this line and plan to continue.
I’ve considered starting using supplements (all I use right now is a multivitamin and vitamin D) and you’ve really piqued my interest with this line. Do you think I should start out with the Physio-Burn or Pro-Sculpt?
Pro-Sculpt provides energy and muscle recovery (AA) for your workouts, so I would opt for that. However, green tea, a natural stimulant, is found in the PhysioBurn capsules, so you would be getting the amped fat metabolism just in a smaller dose.
I used to take some similar products but they aren’t really my thing anymore. That’s awesome they work well for you because sometimes you’ve got to try a few different ones. I stick to the basics, BCAAs and Glutamine in addition to a variety of protein powder options and a clean diet. I have heard good things about this line so it’s still good to know!
I completely trust GNC which makes taking this line that much easier! Sounds like you have your supplements figured out!
Hi! I was so lucky to have stumbled upon your blog, because i’ve been looking at the pro-sculpting for some time. I’ve had some questions about it, but i can’t find anyone i know who uses it! I’ve never taken a supplement, but i want something to help me sculpt and burn fat faster. I’m experienced in working out and athletics, so I know i have to put in the gym work, which i do. But i feel like have a supplement to help me along the way wouldn’t hurt. My main question is, is it okay to just take the pro-sculpt? I don’t have money and i’m not interested in taking all the other supplements, just pro-sculpt. Advice?
The GNC rep I work with recommends ProSculpt over anything! So yes!
I just started using this today. I hope it works. I have been an Athlete all my life but stopped working out for about 1 year now. I am 21 and need to be back in shape. I hope Mega Ignite Helps. And i know know now, eating healthy is crucial. thank you
Hello! Quick question. I do cardio (varies from running, intervals, HIIT, tabata – everything!!) every morning and lift at night. What would you recommend if I didn’t buy all there, maybe just one or two? I am taking 1 MR before lifting now but I want to try something new as I think I am getting used to it. I do like an extra boost before my weights at night, but also like it in the AM before my run. Thoughts? Thanks!!
I would go with ProSculpt & Meta-Ignite. then, get yourself some fish oil (omega 3′s) capsules and take with food! Good luck! Sounds like you are well on your way!!
Great post! What is your favorite flavor of the GNC lean protein powder?
I love the French Vanilla or Vanilla Bean b/c they are so versatile, but the Chocolate Peanut Butter is truly a treat!
If I were to take just one of there I increase calorie burn — what one would you suggest?
Pro-Scuplt! It amps your calorie burn and the amino acid blend helps preserve lean muscle!
I take glutamine prior to every workout. I would also suggest having vitamin D levels checked, and supplement if needed. Many women are deficient in Vitamin D.
You know, I JUST started incorporating glutamine too! And, totally agree on the Vit D–I’m thankful for sunny, summer skies right now to help with that too!
I like your diligence in living healthy and working hard on maintaining your level of fitness, but I feel like this is all a little too much. I think you should look into exercise physiology and learn how these supplements and their ingredients REALLY affect your body and whether or not you’re just feeling some placebo effects. Also, the cellular/molecular need for as much protein as your taking….It may be less than you think.
Just some suggestions, because I know the prices of these things can be sky high and people are often swayed by the makers of these products and the things they say on the bottle.
Hi Jess! I recently started the Pro-Sculpt, Mega-Ignite, PhysioBurn and Lean Shake 25. I have to tell you, I am a long time runner and exercise freak and am not new to supplements. I also eat very clean. I feel awful!! Even though I eat something small with the Mega-Ignite, it seems to be upsetting my stomach and gives me horrible heart burn during my runs. Did you experience this? I’m also not feeling a boost at all but more run down than usual. I’m also hungrier than normal…almost like my stomach is unsettled so I feel like I constantly need to eat something. Ugh! What do you think??
Hi CG! I’m so sorry you are experiencing these problems. I drank 10 oz of water with the meta-Ignite pills and never experienced any problems. But, each person is unique. There could be other variables affecting your energy, but if you don’t feel good using this line, then certainly stop. I believe GNC has a 30 day guarantee if you wanted to return the products. I still love them and have had great success on the GenetixHD line and I know others have as well, but by all means, discontinue use if its not for you.
Hi,
I generally workout in the morning…..how would you suggest using the GNC supplements. Take the prosculpt first thing in the am…..I usually eat a little in the morning then it’s about an hour later that I workout….still take the mega ignite that soon after the other? Just don’t want to over supplement! Thanks for your response.
If any chance you can respond to my email that would be great ….that way i know i will see it.
Dianne
i thought my email would show up there…. sebago74@gmail.com
Thanks again!
Hi Dianne! There is not a steadfast regime for the GenetixHD line, simply guidance. I like the Meta-Ignite before cardio and the ProSculpt before any strength training, but that’s personal. You can choose one or the other. If using both thermogenics, then only take 1 serving per day!
I started my GenetixHD this morning. However, the lady at GNC said I didn’t need to use the physio burnif I was using the other two. Then after reading everything I can on the little inserts, I realize she was totally wrong and I need the physio burn. Then I read your review and feel that I’ve really messed up by not getting it. Thoughts?
The GenetixHD line is designed to use all 3 products PhysioBurn is a non-stimulant to be taken with a meal. ProSculpt and Meta-Ignite are both thermogenics.
Hi! I stumbled across your site on Pinterest. Gotta love all the pins! Anyways, I, too, have been a runner for a very long time and incorporate fitness into my lifestyle. I went into GNC today to check out the GentixHD line. The rep told me to start with the Physio Burn as it is a non-stimulant. He also said that I wouldn’t need all three. If I wanted to add another, add the meta-ignite. Thoughts?
Hi Karen! PhysioBurn is a non-stimulant to take with meals. However, it won’t impact your workouts. If you are looking at something for a “boost” pre-workout, then the ProSculpt or Meta-Ignite are your go-to’s! I am not sensitive to caffeine, so neither make me (personally) jittery.
HI Jess,
Thanks for your quick response. Now that makes sense. I think I am going to try the Pro-Sculpt as I have been doing my workouts early in the morning and need something quick, easy and not to heavy. Thanks for your input.
Karen
You bet! And, if the ProSculpt doesn’t work for you, you can return it within 10 days.
Hey Jess! I came across your GNC workouts on pinterest and love your site! I am trying to get back into a routine of cardio and weights, and thinking about taking supplements as well but am a little overwhelmed. If I’m not regularly doing high intensity work outs, will protein shakes actually cause me to gain weight?
I am a cycling instructor and mainly do high intensity cardio..I have a high tolerance for caffeine and was wondering which one of these you would recommend..I would like to start weight training so is there one that can cross over for both cardio and weight training?
HI Bethany! The Meta-Ignite pills have the highest caffeine content at 400 mg per serving while ProSculpt powder has 200mg but it also has added amino acids so that might be the best combo for strength training AND cardio. I love them both, so its hard for me to decide!
Your current write-up has proven necessary to me. It’s very
educational and you are certainly quite educated of this type.
You have got opened up our face in order to numerous thoughts about this kind
of matter together with intriguing and strong content.
viagra recently posted..viagra
Jess- Love your site. I found it through pinterest and have recommended it to everyone I know. I am a runner (2 marathons) and also lift everyday.
i just started the genetix line from GNC but the prosculpt tastes terrible. any suggestions.
Thanks Christina! I know some people struggle with the ProSculpt. I would dilute it initially. Also, there are two flavors: blue raspberry and fruit punch. I do NOT like the blue raspberry but LOVE the fruit punch and drank it religiously pre-pregnancy. If you can choke it down, check to see if you can return the product to GNC for a refund. Good luck!!
I am not working out in the am before work. all workouts lifting and running are occurring back to back in the afternoon after 3:30. Should I drink the prosculpt in the am still? I have found ice and really cold water helps with the taste!
Thanks!
Christina
Hi Christina! I drink my ProSculpt with ice, cold water and a straw–goes down easy! It’s up to you on when you want to drink it. If I didn’t work out immediately in the AM, I would use it as my “coffee”. I also would drink in the p.m. pre-strength or CrossFit WOD–but I wasn’t affected by the caffeine–some are sensitive to it. You could experiment with it and see if it affects your sleeping.
Couple questions… Is this “stack” one that you have to cycle off of? Or can you take it continuously until you feel like you’ve met your goal? And once you feel you have met said goal, is there any part of this that you’d continue with?
Hi Caitlin. I’m not an expert and can only share my own personal experience. I continued to take GenetixHD after the 90 days (I’m not now, because I’m pregnant). I might not have taken each one, each day, but usually used MetaIgnite or ProSculpt. I have a couple plans listed on here too: http://blondeponytail.com/2012/07/gnc-meal-supplement-plan-part-2/
Hello!
I was wondering would you recommend the same supplements for someone like myself who is active yet not as active as you. I strength train 4-5 times weekly and run (2-4 miles) 3-4 times weekly. I am trying to tone up and am looking for some good supplements to support that.
Thank you!
Monica
HI Monica. I am not qualified to make recommendations, I am only sharing what has worked for me!
I do, however, love the line!
Thanks for this, it has been very helpful. Been looking for something to give me that extra oof.
You bet!
