Many of you honored SUAR’s cousin, Sherry Arnold by running in her honor on Saturday, February 11th. Over 20,000 bibs were printed off! The running community is amazing.
I adapted a workout from my CrossFit iPhone app that appears to be more like a CrossFit Endurance workout as mentioned in the February Runner’s World.

I think this may be my new favorite workout style. I get to keep my running AND challenge my fitness!
I dedicated each sweaty repeat, and a total 4.5 miles, to Sherry. This workout was tough! 9.0 mph is a 6:40 pace, but the last 200m were challenging–I know some of you can hold a 5k for this pace and you are my heroes!
Starting my day off with a tough workout sets me up for healthy choices the rest of the day. I find it so much easier to stay focused. Do you like to workout in the morning?
It completely makes it okay to relax with Cooper the rest of the day too, right?
Tragically, what happened to Sherry Arnold reminds us all that we are never promised tomorrow, so live today to its fullest. Find that fire and run with it!
Also, I will be sharing video demos of more exercises you can incorporate into your routine this week. Hope you like them!

Great workout and I love the picture of you and Cooper.
Love that Cooper is on your phone! So cute, he is!
That looks so tough, you are so incredibly strong! I’m sure Sherry loved that you did this in her honor!
Um….I don’t think I could run 100m at a 6:40 pace anymore.
I love all of the workouts and info that you have been sharing lately. It’s awesome!!! Thanks Jess!
20,000 bibs! That’s amazing! Awesome workout!! Sounds like a sweatfest!!
Great work out!! I’m working on being more mindful, but it’s tough.I’m such a worrier about anything and everything and forget to live the moment. Sherry’s story is so tragic!
Thanks for telling me about that app! I think I may incorporate it into my training as well! I have recently gotten into Bodyrock and yesterday’s workout was very similar. It had a strength portion followed by a HIIT cardio portion (skipping…but I did treadmill sprints instead)…and them more strength. I love that it incorporates both!
now that is a bad ass run/workout. Love it and pinning it!
Great workout! Thanks for mentioning that app, I can always use a new workout app!
i’ve been doing this a lot lately too…breaking up running with a couple minutes of exercises off the treadmill. i love it!
LOVE that workout! And I can always use new apps to check out.
4 miles at that pace would set me up for a coma the rest of the day.
Nice workout!
I love getting my sweat on early in the morning, I feel sluggish all day if I don’t.
Thanks for the great looking workout! Just pinned it to my Fitness Inspiration board.
That picture of you and Cooper is adorable! That is a great workout too… I just saved it for another time! oh and I downloaded the WOD app, I had no idea that existed!
That workout is intense!
I haven’t really gotten behind the fitness apps. I honestly don’t use any! I’ll log daily mile afterwards, but not via my phone.
Great workout! Pinning this guy…kinda wish I had a treadmill to keep myself accountable with speed and give this one a shot!
OMG. I did this workout this morning and I nearly threw up by the end, but I LOVED it. I am used to running long distances and my legs don’t typically get sore. It’s noon and I’m already having a hard time walking up the stairs. GOOD SIGN! Thanks for sharing. Oh, and just to clarify – 20lbs total or 20lbs in each arm?
Awesome Lauren!! Yes, this was a tough one! I did use 20 lbs dumb bells for a total of 40 lbs being “thrusted”!!
Uh-mazing. I used 7kg dumbbells which is 15.4lbs in each arm. I’ll try 9kg next time! If you do something like this one day do you typically run the next day if your legs are sore? Or do you rest them and do something else?
